Spasmodic Dysphonia Voice

How I restored my voice using Vocal Behavior Training - VBT

Well, if you are reading this then it is likely that you are having trouble with your voice. And it is likely that you have been diagnosed with SD. My heart goes out to you. I wouldn't wish this on anyone!

I am not a doctor or medical professional. I am a preacher who lost his voice, and after going to voice lessons for three years I was able to get my voice back to a functional level. Functional for me is public speaking. Do I still have SD? Yes! Is my voice perfect? No! You will hear on the videos, that I my voice is not perfect. But it is functional. It is much better than staying cooped up in my bedroom not wanting to communicate with anyone, which is what I was doing when I couldn't talk.

This website is dedicated to the exercises and what I did to get my voice back. I will say also that there was much prayer and the Lord guided me to the lady that helped me get my voice back.

Your voice is the result of the vibrations of the edges of two ligaments as they come together and air passes between them. If your ligaments do not come together (approximate) correctly, or if your ligaments are not aligned, or if they are not flexible, or if they are not strong, then you will not be able to make sound. These exercises are a "gym for the voice." They work for me and thee were other people suffering from SD that went to Alma and she helped them as well.

If you want a detailed explanation of what I did please purchase my book: Good Vibrations, by Ken McDonald. The book explains in much more detail the exercises that I did and do, and how to do them. This website will be a supplement to the book. There is much work to be done on this site, but I do hope to get it up and running. Good Vibrations is available on line or can be ordered from brick and mortar stores.
